About this tool, FAQ and sources
How much is IBS really affecting your life? Answer 10 short questions to get your Thesos IBS Impact Score from 0 to 100, broken down across physical symptoms, unpredictability, food freedom, daily life and mental load.
How it works
There are five areas, each with two questions about the last two weeks. Each answer scores 0–4, so each area is worth up to 20 points and the total is out of 100. All areas count equally. Higher scores mean you reported a greater impact from IBS within this questionnaire.
It can
- Show which parts of life IBS affects most for you right now
- Give you a simple number to compare against later
- Help you explain the impact to a clinician
It cannot
- Diagnose IBS or any other condition
- Classify your IBS as mild, moderate or severe
- Compare you with other people; it is not clinically validated
Questions
- Is this the same as the IBS-SSS?
- No. The Thesos IBS Impact Score is an original questionnaire with its own questions and scoring. It is not a clinical severity scale.
- What is a 'good' score?
- Lower means you reported less impact. There are no medical cut-offs. It's most useful for seeing how your own score changes over time.
- Why does food freedom count?
- Many people with IBS describe avoiding foods and worrying about eating out as one of the biggest effects on their life, so it gets its own area.
